Joel's massage therapy training was at Northwestern Health Sciences University, in one of the foremost massage therapy programs in the country. He graduated summa cum laude and went on to study many speciality areas of massage. These include massage for cancer patients and clinically frail conditions, advanced pre- and post-natal massage, and Healing Touch.
He has done massage therapy in hospitals, massage clinics, chiropractic offices, and Courage Center, plus chair massage at many metro corporations.
